We are honored to care for many of Dr. David Ryan’s patients.

Dr. Ryan and his team have strived to provide superb care over the decades. Their clinic has been entrusted with family healthcare through multiple generations in the community, with the goal of providing state-of-the-art healthcare, integrating science with the art of medicine and promoting a body-mind-spirit dynamic that empowers the patient in a respectful, personalized, and friendly partnership. INITIAL APPOINTMENT PROCEDURE

Please have your current insurance information ready (insurance company and member/subscriber ID) then call us.  (Next year we will use the 619.222.2355 # so keep that # and in the interim you can still connect to us through that #.)  If you provide us with an E-mail address that you use, we will send you an E-mail link to register for the patient portal.  This allows you to complete the Intake Forms in advance, send us messages with attachments, view test results, etc.  If you do not fill out the forms in advance then please arrive 30 minutes prior to your appointment for Check In.  If you fill out your forms ahead of time, then you may arrive just 5 minutes prior to your appointment for Check In.

PRESCRIPTIONS

I do not prescribe controlled substances, including amphetamines, opioids, sedative hypnotics, benzodiazepines, or testosterone.  I am willing to refill your Rx temporarily while you await referral to a specialist unless you choose to wean down in conjunction with alternatives.  Exceptions to this are terminal illness or fracture.  My emphasis in treatment of underlying disorders is upon lifestyle optimization and behavior modification with non-controlled medications.  As of 1 January 2025, physicians are required to discuss opioid risk prior to dispensing.

HMO PCP TRANSFER/REFERRALS

The official Primary Care Provider transfer was planned for 1 Jan 2025.  However, our mutual Independent Practice Association (IPA) Mercy Physicians Medical Group (MPMG) with 500+ doctors also changed their management company to Prospect on this same exact date so the official transfer is still expected sometime in March 2025.  In the interim, we are still able to evaluate, treat, order lab/imaging, and refer (referrals are a couple days slower due to temporary lack of direct online access).  Blue Shield HMO does not show me in the directory, however I am contracted with Blue Shield HMO and MPMG is still coordinating the transfer.  If you have seen a specialist within a year, the specialist is able to self-refer without a referral from us.

INSURANCE
See our insurance page for which insurance plans we accept.  Please note we are not accepting new Medicare PPO.

AESTHETICS​

I do not offer this, however Dr. Ryan will continue to provide aesthetic treatment (Botox for wrinkle reduction and Juvaderm for facial filling).  Dr. Ryan will be here every 3 months, beginning in March 2025.  If you would like to be placed on the Aesthetics List, please call our clinic for further information or to be scheduled.  Dr. Ryan was an artist before he was a doctor and it is special that he continues medical art.

MEDICAL RECORDS​

Although we are in your same building, the clinic has a different name, Sun Health Medical Clinic, Inc.  If you want me to review Dr. Ryan's chart then your authorization is required (we have a form ready for you to initial and sign).

STAFF​

Dr. Ryan's staff, Michelle (reception) and Rebecca (back office, referrals), are still here for your continuity in health advocacy.  My medical assistant Danny is the Office Manager.
